The Cozy Creative Wilderness Retreat

ENROLLMENT IS CURRENTLY PAUSED

An Imaginary Retreat Experience Live over Zoom

Update: Intuition is telling me to pause this retreat, and offer it at a later date. Instead, I will be pivoting, and putting out a simpler, shorter MINI COZY OFFERING before the end of the year. Announcement coming very soon! Stay tuned!

I'm inviting you to an experiment.

Truthfully - I'd love to do an actual in person creative retreat somewhere peaceful and filled with magical energy someday. (Putting that out into the universe!!!)

But for now - and this is the experiment - we will use our imaginations, and allow ourselves to transport to an imaginary, beautifully remote, cozy wilderness retreat space together.

We will create magical energy collectively - with our creative selves intentionally embarking together on an alchemical, restful, gentle, healing, creative adventure.

So... Imagine a beautiful, cozy, mountain retreat for creative artists...

... with warm fall colours everywhere. Crunchy leaves. Magestic views. A path next to a creek gently babbling away. You can smell that sweet burnt smell of seasons changing.

You are changing too.

You walk up the path, feeling a bit nervous, but so so so glad you were brave enough to do this. You know you are ready to rest, recover, and open up your creative soul in new ways. You’ve been needing this for a while. You wonder who else will be there?

You get a sense some new soulful friendships will be made. You belong here.

You get to the end of the path and discover the retreat spaces nestled in the forest...

Each building is unique and beautiful in design, and has a specific purpose for the type of work to be explored. There are also little solo cabins for each participant to stay and cozy up in when you want alone time. You wonder which one is yours?!

You feel warm magical tingles working their way through your body as you realize you were so meant to be here, and you can feel things shifting inside your creative self already!

What's Offered at the Cozy Creative Wilderness Retreat

How The Retreat Works:

Retreat every few days into a magical world with other creative souls

Between Nov. 4th-Dec. 17th, you are invited to retreat from everyday life every few days into a variety of magical sessions offered as part of this virtual creative retreat (more specifics on what these sessions are below).

All sessions will happen over Zoom, and there will be a variety of times offered to give you flexibility to choose a schedule and time commitment that works for you.

All sessions will be recorded, so you can revisit or attend in your own time if that works better for the season of life you are in right now. You will have forever access to these recordings (which means you can enter the "retreat space" anytime you want in the future).

The Types of Sessions & Schedule

Again, there are a variety of times that will be available and all sessions will be recorded, so that you can choose a schedule and pacing that works for YOU.

Creative Workshops

*Mondays from 5pm-7pm (Pacific Time) or Tuesdays 10am-12pm (Pacific Time)

In Creative Workshops, we explore different topics and exercises as a group to stretch your creative instrument, deepen your instincts and connection to your creative voice, and get more clarity on what's most alive and aligned for you NOW.

You can expect some teaching, group discussions, partner & small group work, somatic & physical explorations, solo journalling/instrospection time, mindfulness & trance (light hypnosis) work, & some playful surprises in these workshops.

Topics will be tailored to the group, but here are some examples of what we may cover depending on interest:

Embracing your humanness as a creative artist instead of producing like a machine; Exploring your creative seasons, cycles & rituals; Playing with different inner parts of you that show up in your creative work; Being fully seen and feeling safe in your creative expression; Discovering your wild and playful impulses; Connecting deeply to your inner creative wisdom and honouring the call of where your spirit wants to go next

*Note: Creative Workshops alternate each week with with Group Coaching Sessions (ie. they happen every 2 weeks). I recommend attending one per week.

Group Coaching Sessions

*Mondays from 5pm-7pm (Pacific Time) or Tuesdays 10am-12pm (Pacific Time)

Process feelings, shift the sticky stuff, build trust in your creative wisdom and tap into your powerful unconscious mind in these deep yet playful Group Coaching Sessions.

In these sessions, we will do a combination of solo and group change work and processing of our inner worlds. (Truthfully, even if you are getting coached solo, everyone else who is witnessing you is gaining from it)

You have the opportunity to be coached by me 1-1, while the group witnesses and holds space for you. Or you can choose to listen and hold space for others (often the most powerful "aha's" in you come from witnessing someone else being coached).

We will also do group coaching exercises, and dip into hypnosis and trance to experience altered states of consciousness, where often the most powerful shifts happen.

What do you coach on?

You can bring whatever is rising to the surface for you in your creative work or spirit right now that you feel needs to be addressed. Also, the workshops and being in a retreat-like environment will likely bring things forward that you know need to be processed, even if you can't quite put words to it - trust that we'll find what it is!

*Note: Group Coaching Sessions alternate with Creative Workshops each week (ie. they happen every 2 weeks). I recommend attending one per week.

Creative Studio Work Sessions

*Times Available (all in Pacific Time): Wednesdays 9am-10:30am, Thursdays 11am-12:30pm & Thursdays 9pm-10:30pm | Bonus 3 HOUR SESSIONS Nov. 23rd -3pm-5pm & Dec. 8th - 10am-1pm

A big component of this retreat is to ACTUALLY WORK ON SOMETHING OF YOUR OWN. So... pick a project that lights you up, a creative ritual or practise you want to hone, a skill you want to build, or something personal to explore in your creative life and gently work on it in the presence of others doing the same.

Whatever you choose - it MUST feel congruent, aligned and connected to what's alive for your creative spirit right now. We are going to explore how to work in a way that feels ease-full, joyful, and aligned with your unique humanness.

Gently working on something that matters to your creative soul in the presence of others creates powerful results. There is something about the power of this container that blows participants away every time.

We are meant to create in community - and also, it simply feels so nourishing to commit to something that feels deeply resonant in yourself, and to take action and do the work while you know others are also doing it with you.

*Note: I recommend attending at least one of these per week, but you are completely welcome to come to more than one if that lights you up!

Magic Hour

Times Available (all in Pacific Time): Fri Nov. 15th - 11am-12pm, Sun Nov. 17th - 5pm-6pm, Fri Dec. 13th - 11am-12pm, Sun Dec. 15th - 5pm-6pm

A Creative Retreat wouldn't be complete without a little magic and mystery... I can't say much, because I don't even know what it is! All I know is we are meant to have this type of container here...

What can I say? Magic Hour embraces all that is enchanted, mysterious, and mystical, and it is guided by spirits, sprites, and fairies (or whatever your imagination wants it to be guided by). Magic Hour is incredibly playful and intuitive. Magic Hour may call us to lean into something we may not normally do, or that makes no sense at all. Magic Hour is a time to gather together, cast some spells, and let the session evolve how it calls us to.

Fireside Ritual & Chat Sessions

Times: The Week of Nov. 25th, all Creative Studio Sessions will be replaced by Fireside Ritual & Chat Sessions

Week 4 of the Retreat will be an Integration Week of sorts, where we'll move more slowly and explore letting go of what needs to be released, and allow stuff to process and shift. The Fireside Ritual and Chat Sessions are an opportunity to do so in community.

We'll lean on the idea of gathering around a healing fire together, cozy brew in hand, and engage in an alchemical ritual of letting go. We'll have open dialogue about what's true and alive for us, and chat about themes that are surfacing in our workshops and calls, and anything that wants to be shared.

Who Is This Retreat For?

--

You Feel it If You Know it's For You

Does reading all this light you up? Is there a delightful, curious bubble inside you? Maybe a bit of fear-excitement? This is the best indication that this retreat is calling you and is for you.

--

This experience is for creatives and artists - of any medium or experience level.

By any medium - I mean it - I truly believe we all are creative beings. You could be a performing artist, visual artist, crafty person, speaker, podcaster, creative entrepereneur, coach, film-maker, writer, or work in the healing arts. Or a combo of a bunch of things. Or none of these at all. You don't need to have a title or label for yourself (we know we are infinite beings yeah?) You may simply value creativity and creative living and want to nurture it in your life.

--

You're Craving Cozy Space to Process & Shift

Deep down, you desire a creative space where you can move through your next creative season slowly and gently. Where you can focus on yourself and what your deepest creative self truly wants, while also being in community with others on their own journeys.

You sense there is a transition happening within, and you want to tap into your deepest, wildest creative YOU, and unearth secret longings, and unblock the stagnant stuff that’s no longer useful.

--

You Want to Dedicate Time to a Creative Project

You want to discover and/or work on a creative project that feels sparkly and congruent with yourself, or you simply need a space to explore, experiment and wander with your artistry while being safely held through it.

--

You are Ready and Willing to be Coached

You’re open to being coached and to lean into discomfort, but not so much that it’s overwhelming. You understand how to hold gentle space for others being coached, and trust that you will be getting powerful ah ha's just by witnessing others too.

--

You Are Part of The Slow Crew

You deeply understand that this kind of work - it's slow work - AND you know that you may or may not see any outward, "tangible results" right away. You understand that this is more about the journey and the experience, and gifting yourself something that matters to you.

You yearn to move with the seasons and organic rhythms of YOUR OWN creativity. A big theme of this retreat is to trust your own timing.

--

You Get that This is an Experimental, Intuitive Process

If you know me, you know that I often create things as they come through me. It feels more like a channeling-type process, than something logically planned out.

This particular retreat experience came through me in a very powerful way, because I know that I need it, and that WE need it. I have discovered much of the shape of it, but a lot of the content will be evolving as we go - it's an art project in itself!

So, I will follow my inner guidance about what the retreat calls us to focus on and explore week to week, as will you with what you decide to work on.

So if this is your jam, you are in the right place!

Would you like to explore your next Creative Chapter in the company of other big-hearted, deep feeling, lovely humans, AND get some gentle, meaningful work done?

about Me

Hey! I'm Jen!

Your Creative Coach & Facilitator for the Cozy Creative Wilderness Retreat

As a creative human navigating my ever-evolving artistry, a small coaching business, new parenthood and now, a new chronic illness - I wanted to brew up a new offering that felt more aligned with where my desires are swirling and where my energetic capacity is.

Like you, I have been in a huge season of change and transition, and I feel so different compared to just a few years ago.

Our world is also changing and increasingly complex, and is in dire need of humans like you and me - who lead with our tender, hopeful hearts - to take good care of ourselves and our wild creativity. This is so that we can express what's deep inside, do the art we are meant to, and put powerful work out there that could be just the thing that someone really needs (or that could create the paradigm shift we all need).

The older I get, the more intentional I want to be with everything - my time, what I consume, what I create - and slowing down and being in a retreat-like creative environment is exactly the medicine I'm craving right now.

So I invite you to join me this autumn season - to explore our creative wildernesses together - and move, shift, play, heal, grow, get clarity, CREATE - and do whatever the F you feel like you need here!

I'm here for it, and will be journeying, brewing up new creations and experimenting along with you. 🖤

A little more about me...

You are in kind, compassionate, thoughtful, fun and goofy hands!

My background as a creator and multi-disciplinary performing artist (improv comedy, physical theatre, commercial/tv/film, & musical theatre) has taught me about playfulness and the creative process, and how deeply connected it is to our body & spirit. My psychology degree and decades of study in personal development has equipped me with tools to better understand and navigate being a sensitive human in a complex world. My 15+ years of teaching and directing people of all ages has helped me hone my gift of facilitation, deep listening and connecting people together. My training in online marketing and creative entrepreneurship has helped me build my audience, create impactful art projects, and build this new creative coaching business of my dreams.

As a coach, I'm certified through the Ethical Coaching Collective in Integrative Change Work (I was taught by Melissa Tiers).

I use an integrative approach that combines the artistry of my 15+ years of performing arts training, with trauma-informed somatic approaches, parts work, trance work (gentle hypnosis) and neuroscience-backed ways of changing habituated patterns in the brain. I love to work with the body and imagination - these are doorways into the unconscious, and quite frankly, it's more playful and fun. 97% of what we think & do is unconscious, so this is where the most powerful change can happen!

Testimonials

"Working with you has inspired me in every way imaginable. Your confidence and goofiness and commitment to your craft has lead me to the most rewarding creative projects of my life. Because of you I discovered that fear was the light I needed to follow ... and because of you I continue to follow it and see a path ahead. Thanks!"

Alison C.

"Working with Jen has truly helped me to believe in my inner creative self again and to give a voice to the projects I want to bring to life. If you work with Jen you are in for a treat. She is hilarious and just a lovely human being!"

Shera K.

"I am always scared and resistant of big thoughts. Jen always guides me towards big thoughts about the world and my practice, and gives me space to have those big thoughts in a less scary and less resistant way. It's amazing."

Eleanor F.

"Working with you has helped reaffirm that- the answers are all inside us, we intuitively know what we want to do and where we want to go. Often though we need a teacher like you to help pull some of those things out, and guide us along the way."

Tom H.

"I've learned from you that creative expression doesn’t have to be regulated to pre-defined artistic practices. Also - that finding the right kind of expression for yourself is varied, difficult, slow and confusing  - and that’s ok."

Robert M.

"My favourite part about Jen is how connected she is to her own humanity. She shows her heart, allowing me to feel comfortable to show my humanity and my heart. A natural leader of the human spirit!!

Jennifer's drive inspires me and her work is incredibly powerful. Her talent as an actor and artist cannot be overstated. This open exchange of ideas is exactly what will lead to broad-scale social change, which is why you want her on your team. I appreciate Jen's light in my life!"
